Support Local Agriculture, a 501c3 not for profit organization, is the result of a conversation among people interested in eating well who recognize the wonderful asset that is Southwest Michigan, Berrien County in particular. Here we have an abundance of fruits, vegetables and livestock and a variety of microclimates. In fact, just up the road a bit in Benton Harbor is a fruit market where farmers bring their products. This fruit market was, at one time, the largest in the world!
We believe agriculture in the Berrien County area is an asset to value, protect and enjoy. The mission of Support Local Agriculture is:
To raise awareness of, advocate on behalf of and promote sustainable, local agriculture
Our goal is to ensure that local produce and other agricultural products are available to individuals and organizations now and in the future. As a way to get out the word about what we have and why it is important to protect, our first project is a documentary - Farm Fresh to You - which will begin production in Fall 2007. For more information see the Farm Fresh to You page on this website.

Future projects/programs will continue to raise awareness of, advocate on behalf of and promote sustainable, local agriculture. We have defined three broad objectives under which activities will be carried out:
• To enhance demand for local agricultural products through consumer education.
• To enhance the supply of local agricultural products by advocating opportunities for local family farms to increase better access for local consumers of locally grown food.
• To facilitate access to local agricultural products by enhancing collaborative efforts between farmers and other public and private resources at the local, state and federal levels
We welcome inquiries of all kinds. Please contact us at: nfo@supportlocalagriculture.org
